good dogs for kids that don’t shed

Is a yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier) a good pet?
I was wondering about a dog i looked up….It’s named the Yorkshire Terrier. And i was wondering if it would be a good pet to have. We have a family of 5 one of the kids is 6 the other 12 and 15 the rest are adults. I was reading that the yorkie has a easy to hurt body. So I don’t really know if i should get it, our house can some times get loud and the 6 year old might not be gental with the dog.
We have a big back yard and a big house. We need a dog that doesn’t shed a lot is friendly to other dogs neighbors and the family.
Will the Yorkie bite? If it gets hurt? Is it ok if we don’t take it for a walk to often only every Saturday and sunday?
We live in Arizona were it gets hot in the Summer and a bit chilly in the Winter!
Please answer all of these questions and tell me if you’ve had experience in doing so.! 10 POINTS!
Well…hard to determine…but probably no.
I’m not going to give you some fruity answer saying they WILL be good dogs with little kids if you train them right, because it’s not true. I dont mean to sound rude, but i have been studying dogs all my life and expecially yorkies. You are a beginner owner, so it would take you years before you are able to master such a stubborn dog. It sounds like I dont like them, but thats not true. I love yorkies, even though their stubborn little snobs…I kinda like that about ‘em…its just funny. <3 Expecially my Dixie, she's a diva. Yes, you could find a way to train her properly, but yorkies can EASILY turn and go back to her original ways.
Yorkies - hate the heat unless you give them shorter hair- like mines.
are only good with mature children, and USUALLY do not like to be messed, jumped, or horseplayed with. They love to run though, so if your kids only played with him by rinning.
They can be tempermental, and will snap on occasion unless properly trained. A weekly walk would be fine, they tend to excersize themself as long as you throw a ball. They have an endless supply of energy.
I have a yorkie, but Im an only child of 15 and I know how to treat her- and she still is a nipper once in a while.
These dogs are for more expirenced handlers, for you I would google these breeds...
Border Terrier (NOT COLLIE)
Labrador
I would EXPECIALLY suggest you to go to your local pound/shelter/humane soceity and tell an employee that your looking to adopt a dog that suites your lifestyle.
