Cat with arthritis limping?
Our cat has recently started to suffer from arthritis (its winter in australia). We have taken her to the vet and she is on pain medication which has helped, but she is still limping and can not jump. The vet said they really don’t have any other treatment for cats.
I know when our last dog had problems we put her on Glucosime, but can not find anything for cats. We have put her on Royal Canine for mature cats and have purchased some good quality beds so she does not have to jump on the couch.
Does anyone else have any advice or know of any other product that may help. she is only 10 years old so I think this is a really worry. By the way, she was a rescue and is a russian blue

She is currently on Metacam for the inflammation and pain, but I would also like to stop it getting worse.

SynoviG3 and Cosequin will cost about 30-40 dollars a tub and Omega fatty acids will cost about 15-35 dollars.
Another good supplement for an aging cat is amino B complex!
It keeps felines kidneys happy.
Metacam is nephrotoxic to felines and typically is only used in end stage diseases for pain in cats in the US.
There are safer more potent pain medications such as bupernex
that will not result in kidney failure.
Check your cats blood work regularlly when administering Metacam.
Realize that the Metacam can lead to a crisis.
Ask you vet about bupernex versus Metacam as bupernex is an opiate but is not nephotoxic!
