What dog breed should I get?

Hi, I live in a small department and I dont know what type of dog I should get. I’m looking for an obidient dog that you can easily train, good with children and short haired. I also need any tips you can give me about that breed. Like if it needs special care for their hair or something like that.

Honestly, I recommend Petfinder.com, or going to your local shelter. You know much more about the animal you’re getting that way than if you are adopting a puppy of a special breed. WIth a full-bred dog, you only know what the breed is *generally* like, not necessarily what YOUR dog will be.

WHereas in shelters/rescue groups, these dogs have been with their keepers, who then know something about that individual dog.

Off the cuff, however, I’d say that a poodle/poodle mix is a good breed for you because they are all the things you described (smart * willing to please=easier to train, small w/out high exercise needs=good for apt. w/no yard, etc.). They require some special grooming (no experience here on that), but that may be worth it, and it may be possible to let their coats grow out a bit.
