What types of German Sheperd’s do the police use?
When I get older I want to possibly get a GSD and while it’s years away, it’s still fun to get involved and do research. I found out that there are different types or ‘builds’ of GSD’s and after looking at pictures I feel like my favorite type are that of the K-9 unit the police use. I’m not sure of the type and that is why I’m asking. I really like how slim and ‘athletic’ they look as opposed to some GSD’s that are also awesome looking dogs but I just prefer the look of the police type.

Looking at pictures, a good example is the GSD in ‘I Am Legend’.
Smart departments only use working line GSDs. The dog from “I Am Legend” is a show dog. The tan/red dogs with black saddles = show dogs. Very very few working line dogs have this coloration. Most working line dogs are sables, blacks, and bi-colors.
