How do I stop my dog from barking at other dogs and people?
I have a 11 month-old Chihuahua. Everytime I take him on a walk, he constantly stops and barks at whoever passes by.
Tell him ‘no!’ in a loud and firm voice, if he doesn’t stop it spray him with cold (or warm) water.
It’s not as harsh as it sounds and, believe me, it’s VERY effective, you just need something to distract your dog, so if you don’t want to do that, try having a squeaky toy or a rattle bottle.
Give him a treat when he’s stopped barking.
It’s worked very well for one of my dogs and it hasn’t destroyed my bond with him.
