What kind of large breed dog is best for a family with children 8 to 14 years?
I want one that is calm, but can go on long walks, mellow temperament, and does not require a lot of grooming.
Thank you for all your great answers. I have one dog, he is a Shepherd-Collie mix. He has soooo much long thick hair, he has to be groomed a lot. I don’t want to have spend as much time on the next dog with grooming as I do on him.
A 2 -3 year old Labrador from a reputable rescue. Perfect age, settling down, listens, no housebreaking…. The older the lab, the better the dog.
Coat is short. Only need to bathe once every 2 months. Just brush on occasion. They do shed but the grooming required is really minimal.
