Stupid Question: Why, exactly, are young women are thought to be better than older women (see details, folks?
It’s clearly not a matter of appearance; I see magnificent women over age 40 often, and dogs under 20 daily.
It can’t be the fertility issue; women are of childbearing age well into their 30s, or sometimes even later.
So, what’s the deal?
Please be specific!
Long tradition, of course. It has biological roots (like everything if you think long enough, but that’s another story) in that average human life expectancy is only relatively recently much beyond the age of 40 or so. If you’ve got a younger female, she can bear more children during her lifetime while still remaining healthy enough to a) raise them and b) bear more before she keels over dead (important when only a small fraction of people born made it to adulthood). Eons worth of this simple need has bred in all of us that youth=health=beauty.
