Why do breeders discourage leptospirosis vax even in endemic areas?

Previous lepto vaccines appeared to cause vaccine reactions. Fort Dodges 4 way vaccine has cleaned up the vaccine decreasing the chances of a reaction.
The smaller the dog the increase in a reaction with any vaccine. But there is treatment for it.
Lepto is a bacterial zoonotic disease that dogs can survive if they have been vaccinated.
Survival rate decreases without the vaccine.
I have seen 1 too many animals die from this horrendous disease. Its a shame because there is protection available.
Heather I am asking a question that I am seeking a real reason for. I am a cvt not a vet who has to explain to owners why their breeder may have told them not to vaccinate.
If there is a good true reason why not to vaccinate that Im not aware of I want to know.

I think perhaps breeders discourage the vaccine in the first 1-2 years of a dog’s life. now they will argue that they dont want a dog to be vaccinated, as it risks an adverse reaction… but perhaps the real reason is that MOST reputable breeders have 1 or 2 year “health guarantees” on their pups… and IF said pup gets a vaccine and has an adverse reaction to it, the breeders are stuck with a sick pup and out some money… so they argue against the vaccine for this reason, I think.
It is a shame that breeders are looking out for their own pockets more than a dog’s health, but I guess the only thing that can be done is to educate people who’ve recently bought or adopted dogs and let THEM decide, not the breeders.
Im impressed with your knowledge of leptospirosis, perhaps if you added the fact that humans can become infected by the microbe through contact with water, food, or soil containing urine from infected animals (dog, pig, horse, etc). Can infect easily by simply swallowing contaminated food or water or through skin contact, especially with mucosal surfaces, such as the eyes or nose, or with broken skin. if people knew they could get sick from their dog being sick… they’d think harder!
