famous dogs from movies

Do you think I might like Harold and Maude?
Some of my favorite movies are:
Performance
Drugstore Cowboy
Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas
Goodfellas
Pulp Fiction
Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid
Michael
Dazed and Confused
The Boondock Saints
Almost Famous
Reservoir Dogs
95% of the films I watch have to do with music (from concert films to movies like Walk The Line) in some way, so I don’t’ really watch a lot of regular movies. Harold and Maude isn’t a movie I can pick up at my local movie store, so if I want it I have to order it online. Based on the movie choices above (and if you haven’t heard of some of the movies, you can look them up here: http://www.allmovie.com/ ), do you think I would like it? I know there’s no way to really tell whether I’ll like it or not until I watch it, but I’m asking anyway. Thanks!
First off…nice list of movies. Those are some of my favorites too!
I too am a collector of concet DVD’s, music related movies, concert documentaries etc…and I have far too many…LOL.
I loved ‘Harold and Maude’…and judging by your tastes you will too. Ruth Gordon was great in that movie, and the storyline was fantastic. Fonzie is correct, the soundtrack was provided by Cat Stevens, and the following songs are featured in the movie:
Don’t Be Shy
On The Road To Find Out
I Wish, I Wish
Miles from Nowhere
Tea for the Tillerman
I Think I See the Light
Where Do the Children Play?
If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out
Trouble
Cat Stevens even has a very small cameo role during a funeral scene.

Ruth was also very good in the comedy ‘Where’s Poppa’, which came out about a year prior to Harold and Maude. It co-stars George Segal, and was directed by Carl Reiner. The film also features Rob Reiner (Carls son) in one of his earliest roles as well. Rob of course went on to play Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the sit com ‘All in the Family’, and has since become a somewhat famed director just like Poppa:

If you enjoy these types of cult classics, you may also find the 1971 film titled ‘The Panic in Needle Park’ of interest. It starred a young Al Pacino in his first role, and depicts very graphically the life and times of several heroin addicts residing in an area of NYC which was then referred to as Needle Park. Great story…great acting, and produced by Dominick Dunne:

Another film worth mentioning in the early 70′s cult genre, is ‘Joe’ starring Peter Boyle (Everybody Loves Raymond, Young Frankenstein) and Susan Sarandon in her debut role. ‘Joe’ was considered by many a precursor to ‘Taxi Driver’ in it’s style/plot:

I think you’d enjoy these films, and they’d make a cool addition to your collection!
