games dogs play

What are some intelligent games to play with my dog?
My golden retriever recently turned a year old, and has been very well trained as far as knowing basic, and some intermediate commands.
I would like to play some more advanced games with him, and do not know of any. Preferably ones that make him/teach him to use his nose a little bit more than he currently does. Do any of you have any fun games that force your dog to think?
Find It!
Start with a piece of kibble or small treat and your dog in a sit/stay. Put the treat up to his nose, tell him to “smell it” (or whatever you want to say) and then put it a foot or two in front of him and tell him to “find it”. Obviously he’ll find it since it’s right in front of him, but you want him to succeed not fail! Do this 5-10 times and move the kibble left or right or a little farther away, but make sure he can see it. As he gets better at this game you can move the kibble out of the room; at first right around the corner, then maybe on a chair or shelf… Just make sure that he succeeds EVERY TIME and soon you’ll be able to hide food 3 rooms away in the couch cushions or in piles of laundry.
