why cats and dogs don’t get along

Why do cats love pregnant women?

I am expecting, (7 mos along) and have been adopted by a cat. I am allowing my husband to keep him (I am not a huge cat fan) on the condition that it sleeps outside, we will not get a litterbox, and it uses the bathroom outside.

The point I’m trying to make is this: cats generally stay away from me, but strange cats seem to completely ignore my 2 dogs to head straight for me. This is not typical, and there aren’t many strays in the neighborhood, but A LOT (like 10+) have been hanging around my house for the last 4-6 months.

What is UP with this???

(To clarify, I do not hate cats, only had bad experiences with them as a child. I realize that this was a specific feline, and I don’t hold much of a grudge, I’m even almost starting to like the one we adopted (as long as he doesn’t hound me much…).

That one specific cat may just be an individual thing, but cats in general seem to gravitate towards people who don’t like them. why?

People that don’t care for cats tend to avoid them, and even avoid eye contact. Cats avoid eye contact as a sign of respect- staring is a challenge. They see this avoidance of eye contact as a friendly gesture.

Also, some people would argue cats are just ironic that way- and like to solicit attention from those giving them the least.

You probably have cats hanging around because word got out that you were feeding one. LOL. I think it’s more coincidence than you being pregnant that has anything to do with the timing.

Who says Cats and Dogs don’t get along?!
